It’s a great trek for first-time trekkers and anyone who wants to try something different. Gulabi generally means pink and Kantha means hilltop so, it means pink hilltop. It is known as Gulabi Kantha because, during the sunset and sunrise, the grassland turns into a soft pink or golden color thus, it turns into a magical hilltop which makes us feel like we are closer to nature. However, you can visit when you feel right.

  • Autumn (September to November)

This is the best time to do the Gulabi Kantha Trek because the skies and the air are crisp. During this season you can see the mountains clearly. At the time of Sunset and sunrise, the meadows light up into golden color that makes the view more scenic and beautiful.

  • Spring (April to June)

During this season the weather is pleasant and the flowers blossoms. The meadows burst with colorful wildflowers in shades of pink, purple, and yellow. In spring, the forests along the Gulabi Kantha Trek become rich, green, and full of life.

  • Winters (December to February) 

In winter the mountains and the meadows are covered with snow all around. However, during winters, the Gulabi Kantha Trek can be risky so, be careful and take all the gear with you along with preparation. As much as the snow can make the place wonderland it can make the trek challenging.

  • Monsoon (July to August)

The monsoon weather makes the trail challenging because the path becomes slippery. This makes the Gulabi Kantha Trek risky so, avoid trekking from July to August month. There is a high risk of landslides and leeches in the forest areas.

Itenary for Gulabi Kantha Trek

The trek takes around 5 days to complete. Before going on any particular trek is important to plan the itinerary of the trek because we can trek peacefully without any stress. So, let’s see the planned itinerary for Gulabi Kantha Trek for 5 Day.

Day 1- Drive from Dehradun to Hanuman Chatti

The distance of the drive is from 180–190 km. which generally takes 7 to 8 hours to complete. The route will take you through Mussoorie, Nainbagh, Barkot, and Yamunotri Valley. After reaching Hanuman Chatti you can relax in your homestay.

Day 2- Trek from Hanuman Chatti to Seema Thatch

This is a 5-to-6-hour long trek so, pack your essential items accordingly. During the trek, you will go through dense forest. However, you can also discover the birds singing.

Day 3 - Trek from Seema Thatch to Gulabi Kantha

Trek Distance is 5 km which generally takes 4 to 5 hours. In 3rd day you can see famous peaks like Bandarpunch, Swargarohini, and Kalanag. The sunset is also mesmerizing.

Day 4 - Explore Gulabi Kantha and return to Seema Thatch.

It is a 4km downhill trek, that makes you watch sunrise from the Himalayas.

Day 5 - Trek back to Hanuman Chatti and drive to Dehradun.

This can be a long day for you because the trek to Hanuman Chatti is around 3 hours and the drive is of 7 to 8 hours. However, if you want you can stay at Hanuman Chatti and drive next day to Dehradun.

🚐 Transport Pickup Time: 7:30 AM, Prince Chowk, near Dehradun Railway Station.

From the scheduled pick-up point to the base camp, we arrange transportation in vehicles like Bolero, Innova, Dzire, or Tempo Traveller (12-seater). This is shared by trekkers at a pre-decided cost. All vehicles are non-AC for mountain travel safety.

🏡 Accommodation Base Camp Stay: 1-night accommodation in a local homestay or guesthouse, offering a glimpse of authentic Himalayan lifestyle. (Single-sharing available at INR 5,000 extra per person for the entire trek)

On-Trek Stay: Twin-sharing tents (Vango Halo Pro / A-Shape) built to handle extreme weather while keeping you comfortable after a long day’s trek.
